La forme des cellules, allong\u00e9es perpendiculairement au plan de l&rsquo;\u00e9pith\u00e9lium, est caract\u00e9ristique d&rsquo;un \u00e9pith\u00e9lium prismatique.<br \/>\nIl est soutenu par un <a href=\"\/codex\/glossaire\/glossaire-de-t-a-z#tissu-conjonctif\" target=\"_blank\">tissu conjonctif<\/a> fibreux l\u00e2che, le chorion. L&rsquo;association de l&rsquo;\u00e9pith\u00e9lium et du chorion constitue une muqueuse, dont les replis portent le nom de villosit\u00e9s et les creux, de cryptes de Lieberk\u00fchn.<\/p>\n<p>La tunique sous-jacente est constitu\u00e9e de tissu conjonctif fibreux dense. Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;une sous-muqueuse.<br \/>\n\u00c0 la diff\u00e9rence de la sous-muqueuse du j\u00e9junum, elle contient des unit\u00e9s tubuleuses ramifi\u00e9es d\u00e9limit\u00e9es par une assise de cellules volumineuses \u00e0 noyau basal. Cette organisation permet d&rsquo;identifier des unit\u00e9s s\u00e9cr\u00e9trices de glandes exocrines tubuleuses ramifi\u00e9es. Elles poss\u00e8dent des canaux \u00e9vacuateurs d\u00e9bouchant au niveau des cryptes de la muqueuse.<br \/>\nAppel\u00e9es glandes de Br\u00fcnner, ce sont des invaginations de l&rsquo;\u00e9pith\u00e9lium qui s&rsquo;\u00e9tendent dans la sous-muqueuse.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;enveloppe externe est form\u00e9e de <a href=\"\/codex\/glossaire\/glossaire-de-t-a-z#tissu-musculaire\" target=\"_blank\">fibres musculaires<\/a> lisses agenc\u00e9es en deux tuniques concentriques d&rsquo;orientations perpendiculaires. Au contact de la sous-muqueuse, les fibres ont une disposition circulaire par rapport \u00e0 l&rsquo;axe de l&rsquo;organe alors qu&rsquo;en p\u00e9riph\u00e9rie, elles ont une disposition longitudinale.<br \/>\nLes deux tuniques musculaires constituent une musculeuse.<\/p>\n<p> &nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>La structure ainsi d\u00e9crite est semblable \u00e0 celle du j\u00e9junum mais comporte en outre des glandes de Br\u00fcnner. Elle est caract\u00e9ristique du duod\u00e9num, r\u00e9gion de l&rsquo;intestin gr\u00eale intercal\u00e9e entre l&rsquo;estomac et le j\u00e9junum.<\/p>\n<p>De m\u00eame que dans le j\u00e9junum, l&rsquo;\u00e9pith\u00e9lium de rev\u00eatement est responsable de l&rsquo;absorption des mol\u00e9cules simples issues de la digestion des aliments. Elles traversent les cellules \u00e9pith\u00e9liales, y sont \u00e9ventuellement transform\u00e9es, avant d&rsquo;\u00eatre d\u00e9vers\u00e9es dans les vaisseaux sanguins et lymphatiques courant dans le chorion et dans la sous-muqueuse.<\/p>\n<p>Les glandes de Br\u00fcnner s\u00e9cr\u00e8tent une substance visqueuse appel\u00e9e mucus, basique. Elle contribue \u00e0 neutraliser l&rsquo;acidit\u00e9 du contenu de l&rsquo;estomac qui passe dans l&rsquo;intestin gr\u00eale.
