Elle s\u00e9cr\u00e8te \u00e9galement des hormones agissant directement sur des organes effecteurs, la prolactine et la m\u00e9lanostimuline.<br \/>\nLa lib\u00e9ration des hormones ad\u00e9nohypophysaires est contr\u00f4l\u00e9e par des neurohormones hypothalamiques, lib\u00e9rines activatrices et statines inhibitrices.<br \/>\nDe mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, des r\u00e9trocontr\u00f4les n\u00e9gatifs sont exerc\u00e9s sur l&rsquo;hypothalamus et l&rsquo;ad\u00e9nohypophyse par les hormones des glandes endocrines p\u00e9riph\u00e9riques.<br \/>\nDe v\u00e9ritables axes hypothalamus-hypophyse-glande endocrine p\u00e9riph\u00e9rique sont ainsi constitu\u00e9s. <\/p>\n<p>Les neurohormones et hormones du complexe hypothalamo-hypophysaire sont fr\u00e9quemment de nature prot\u00e9ique et pr\u00e9sentes chez les Vert\u00e9br\u00e9s non mammaliens.<br \/>\nLa comparaison de leurs s\u00e9quences r\u00e9v\u00e8le que certaines d\u00e9rivent d&rsquo;un g\u00e8ne ancestral. Ainsi somatostimuline et prolactine pr\u00e9sentent des similitudes, de m\u00eame que thyr\u00e9ostimuline et gonadostimulines, ocytocine et vasopressine.
